About The Production

Charles Evered's play, Running Funny, was first produced in 1988 at the Williamstown Theater Festival featuring a then unknown Paul Giamatti in the role of Michael Kaminski. Writer/Director Anthony Grippa had always been inspired by filmmakers such as Chistopher Nolan, Edward Burns, and Robert Rodriguez, among others, because they didn’t let money stand in the way of getting their movies made. “I knew I could make Running Funny very inexpensively because most of the movie takes place in one location and the cast is small. I didn’t want to wait for a studio to give me permission to make the movie, so I decided to raise the money myself,” says the director. The film was shot in Upper Saddle River, NJ in the fall of 2006 over 12 days using the latest advances in digital technology. “I never expected to shoot the movie in my hometown, but when I found the location it quickly became clear that I had to shoot there. It was perfect!” The cast features film and stage veteran Louis Zorich as well as newcomers Maximillian Osinski and Gene Gallerano. "I had a blast working with those guys. I was really lucky to have such a great cast," says Grippa. “I wanted to make a movie that I would want to go see, with characters I care about. It’s a story about accepting changes in life that you can’t always control and letting go of the past. I think everyone can relate to that." Running Funny is currently being shown at film festivals.
