A Note From the Producer
Anthony and I first met as so many contributors to independent films meet – in Starbucks
Union Square. His passion for the project was clear from the start. As a producer, it’s a gift to have a director so dedicated.
At the time I had just gotten my MFA from Columbia in Screenwriting and realized that I’d need to branch out to Producing to make my rent each month and to become one of these new fangled, highlymarketable multi-skilled people we keep hearing about – the ones who succeed in this newfangled, multi-skilled workplace. Ultimately, it was the script, specifically Michael’s “delayed entry” line at the end of the story, that made me (and so many others) want to commit to the project. (The other terms for life’s “Delayed entry” program is graduate school.”)
We were both at the beginning of something very exciting and Anthony’s enthusiasm was easily contagious. He had already tried the studio/production company route and discovered, as many have, that access to funding and partnerships with established companies is an impossibly high hurdle to getting a movie made.
So we’d have to make our own access, use advances in DV technology to our advantage, build efficiently on the money Anthony had already raised. Ultimately determination and sweat, Charles’ and Anthony’s wonderful adaptation of Charles’ timeless play, and the help of the greatest group of creative individuals I’ve yet had the pleasure to work with made this movie happen and are still making it happen.
We do continue to need your support for the final phase of post-production and have a handy “support” button if you should choose to contribute. Thank you to everybody who will help and have helped in this exciting and fantastic journey.
Sincerely,
Matt Christensen
